Sorry if there is another thread on this topic !
Thinking of switching from AT&T to T-Mo on our two cells. Rates looks a heck of a lot better than the $140+ a month we are now paying. Question is - hows the coverage on the Big Lake ? AT&T has it’s “blind spots” in places like West Alton (WAM area) but other than that pretty rock solid. What other concerns should we factor in as well? We do travel abroad, and are fairly high “data” users Open to all your Pro/con’s.

Do consider Xfinity when thinking of changing as their rates are really good.
Their big secret for low rates? They don't own any cell towers and they have a deal with Verizon to use all the Verizon cell towers all over the USA. |

Good question and I am not sure of the correct answer to that. Likely worth your while to make a phone call. I do happen to have Xfinity at my Florida home but my guess is that anyone can do it. It dropped my cell phone bill from something like $140 down to $70 for two lines. Don't quote exactly as my spouse takes care of this bill..... Let everyone know how you make out. |

We switched to TMobile a few weeks ago and have been impressed.
We've not traveled all around the lake, but everywhere we've been has been as good or better than Verizon. It's also consistently faster. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk |

Time Traveler - thanks, I am somewhat “tech” savy - FTTa is in my wheelhouse for business.
Spectrum/Charter leases bandwidth from AT&T (FYI) My concern with those two options is “Throttling” of data in peak periods. @Steve - I am a little confused at your post. What is that- for home use? Or a traveling “hot spot”? Thanks for all the quick input - just surveying options as I may shortly be joining Steve within the next few months Keep the objective feedback coming.

We switched to T Mobile this spring from Verizon. Our total monthly went from $110 for 2 phones with data limits of 2GB to $65 with unlimited, but throttled at 50GB. This plan is available for customers who are age 55+. We are in Tuftonboro/Wolfeboro and reception is good. We use WiFi calling at the house, but even away from the house it’s fine.
We even started streaming Spotify in the car since we have so much more data now. Never had a problem with coverage. In our house in Massachusetts I almost switched to T Mobile’s $50 internet over cellular service, which provides over 150MB/s in our location (near a cell tower) with their cell-to-Wi-Fi box, but when I called Comcast they agreed to drop their pricing to $55/month from $100. So I kept Comcast, but T Mobile definitely is a good option. I am now a happy T Mobile customer, and used to be a grumpy Verizon customer! |

Just a note that back roads/bike trail from Lebanon to Boscawen had full 5G T-Mobile coverage (when Verizon often didn't have service at all).
On 89 from the Concord exit to Lebanon, though, there were a couple T-Mobile dead spots (Verizon was in another car, so not sure about them). Hard to tell how long, but long enough that I couldn't just skip on Spotify (1/2 mile or so?). Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk |
