Roof temporary solution
Can anyone recommend a local company which will install a protective “blue roof wrap” for our house in Tuftonboro? We would like to have it protected (leaking this summer) for the winter & install new roof in spring.

Blue roof wrap?
You mean a tarp? The blue are light weight, and I can't guarantee that would last all winter depending on what happens. If you have some idea where the leak may be... try using Through the Roof. It comes as a caulking tube and either quarts or gallons for larger areas. |

It may be very worthwhile to move your 2024 roofing project into 2023 if you possibly can do so. Also, it may be cheaper to do now rather than next year. Doing it now will allow you to avoid the band aid scenario. |

I can't imagine that:
Any professional roofer will guarantee a tarp for more than a few days Any tarp installed today won't have to be replaced 3-4 times over the winter Your insurance company won't say "no coverage--you failed to maintain the roof" Contractors in NH don't stay in business long if they do shoddy work. Call one who has been in business awhile and at least repair/replace the roof where the leak is. You can do other sides/sections separately. I see roofing co. ads on TV every night. I'd guess they are all ready to deal and to offer unique finance plans. |

Harbor Freight to the roof rescue!
Harbor Freight in Gilford has extreme heavy duty tarps, color-black, in seven sizes from 8x10'-$14.99 up to 20x30'-$84.99 plus probably has wide head roof nails with rubber washers for nailing it dpwn good, down through the old worn out shingles.
That will definitely get the roof all through the winter and into spring. Just make sure you get the right nails with wide flat black soft rubber washers to hold it down against the wind and weather and seal the nail holes from leaking.

Thanks. I’m talking about the blue roof coverings. They put them on in FL & Louisiana after hurricanes because the roofers have a long list to get to. They can last a few years. I can’t get a roofer to even replace the section where the leak is before winter. We’ve had it “repaired” twice - still leaks.

Hurricane tarp. That is what the blue tarps are called in the South.
Sorry on the recommendation. Not sure of a roofer/roofing company in that area. The local lumber yard may have a list of contractors/handy persons in that area that may be available to help. There are some on the forum... but I am not sure of their schedule. |

I recommend checking out this roofing company. They offer a range of services, including installing protective roof wraps. I've used their services in the past and was very satisfied. They were professional, efficient, and did a great job. They should be able to help you protect your roof for the winter and install a new one in the spring.
