Default How have you successfully protected your shore from ice?

There are some good websites and videos from companies on Lake Superior and the Mississippi River that line the shore with rip rap so the ice will ride up. Does anybody have a good explanation of how to build it?

For example, how far below the water/ice level do the rocks need to start?

Is there a preferred slope angle?

Should the rocks be dug into the shore?

Should there be stone dust or gravel swept filled in between the rocks?

Thank you all!
