Ariens heated hand grips?

So, the Small Engine Barn, Fairgrounds Rd, Plymouth, about two miles from Rt 93-Exit 26, open Tuesday thru Saturday has these Ariens heated hand grips for $129., made by Ariens. You can install them yourself to replace existing non-heated hand grips. A wire goes to the engine or something and energizes the heated grips ..... warm hands!

Anyone reading this have any experience doing this? Am thinking about heated hand grips and freezing cold hands and what's the difference?

Anyway, the Small Engine Barn has them as well as Ariens snowblower covers that say "Ariens-King of Snow" and they have three different Ariens snowblowers for sale, a 24", 28", and a 30" all in the better quality, more powerful models, and one already has these heated hand grips.

Small Engine Barn, Plymouth NH is the place for do-it-yourselfers to go for Ariens parts like belts and everything else, plus service work if you don't want to do it yourself.

Do they have parts for Troy-Bilt, Toro, Craftsman, Husqvarna and Honda? Yes, they have every single part for every snowblower ever made in the last three thousand years since snow was first invented! ......

Maybe I should not be asking this ....... do battery powered, rechargable snowblowers ever, ever, ever NEED any service or repair? No, never ever ever ..... ha-ha-ha-ha! .... .... Do battery powered snowblowers actually work to do the snow ...... ha-ha-ha-ha-ho-ho-ho-ho?

So, what did one battery powered snowblower say to another battery powered snowblower? Well, hello there, you know I just got back from Florida to here in New Hampshire, and you know ...... I simply cannot wait to return down back to sunny, warm Florida ........ ha-ha-ha-ha-ho-ho-ho-ho .....

I have heated handgrips on my Ariens, and it's a great feature.

If those aftermarket ones are simple to install, I'd totally go for it.

What an excellent suggestion ....... and looking at eBay, there's Kemimoto electric heated winter gloves in s-m-l-xl for $56.99 ..... less than half the price of Ariens heated hand grips ...... plus no snowblower installation needed.

Am looking for similar electric MITTENS? I like mittens for deep freeze, warm hands!

Hey there, the Small Engine Barn in Plymouth even has parts for Yamaha snowblowers, and I've NEVER seen a Yamaha snowblower. Supposedly, Yamaha snowblowers are blue, similar to Honda, and available in Canada but not too much in the United States for some unknown reason.

You know ...... does it ever snow in Canada? .......

I have a few different gloves I like to use depending on the weather, and heated gloves often make my hands sweat.

Because of those things, and the maintenance required—I don't need any more things to charge—I much prefer the heated handles.

That being said, if I could use heated gloves in other areas of my life, I'd definitely look into them as a one-stop solution.

if your engine does not support a "lighting kit", which is an alternator set up under the flywheel, then it cannot power anything. In that case a jury-rigged battery set up would be necessary...

This old Ariens has the two augers stuck to the two inner shafts that extend on both sides from the gear box. So, when the 1/4" shear bolts is removed by unscrewing the nut, and banging it out with lubricant spray and a hammer, the auger will NOT spin on the shaft.

This is supposedly a major NO-NO because the auger needs to spin easy with the shear bolts removed. The grease fittings are probably clogged up solid as well.

So, I need to either replace the two grease fittings, or get lubricant inside the auger spin-around, somehow, with an aerosol spray. Fluid film is recommended to do this, and then tap the auger around with a rubber mallet to loosen it up.

Wish me some good luck here, or I be doing the snow with a snow shovel?

I recently bought this old Ariens for $175 on Craigslist and the engine starts right up and runs strong with the pull start, even though the electric start is not working.

I got heated socks for Christmas last season. I wear them at the rink when watching my grandson play hockey.
I have a bad back and I'm like a wick, if my feet are cold, it goes right up to my back.

Not worth $129 IMO, they came with my Ariens, not a lot of heat come out of them. I'd go for a nice pair of mittens.

As far as the shafts stuck to the augers, I had this issue, thought it was rust, but it was actually old grease that had turned to wax consistency. I blasted the augers with a propane torch, got it nice and toasty warm, liquified the old grease, and voila, they freed up! I pumped some new grease in while they were warm to force out the old grease, good as new.

This is my second year with an EGO 28" electric snowblower, and so far I am very happy with it.

For $73.90 there's an orange and beige weighted hula-hoop on eBay that weighs 6.83-lbs which is maybe the most heavy one, made. Have never seen a seven-lb or heavier.

Hula-hooping with a five or six-lb hula-hoop is an excellent way to exercise indoors, at home, and the weight actually makes it more easy to do it.

There's also some used Health Hoops hula-hoops, various weights, going for lower prices on eBay. Probably sold by people who give up with the hula-hoop exercise?

So, whats this got to do with snowblowing and snow removal? It's all strenuous work, snowblowing, shoveling, roof-raking and it definitely helps to be more physically fit.

Living somewhere like www.naplespanorama.org would be no fun because there's no snow, down there .... ha-ha-ha .... ho-ho-ho!

I have a newer Honda HS 928 with electric start. It seems Honda doesn't even offer heated grips as an accessory. I haven't seen any.

On another note, my neighbor installed a pair of snowmobile bogie wheels on his snowblower auger housing in place of the skid shoes. He's had them on there for 3 seasons and they seem to work amazingly. No signs of wear on the wheels, no scratches on the new driveway, and super easy to maneuver. He is careful not to drag the front of the snowblower sideways when turning but otherwise swears by the change.
I have seen universal wheel/skid combos on amazon but I really like the bogie wheel idea. Think of the beating they have to withstand on a snowmobile skid.

Anyone done or seen anything similar?

For $9.99 today I bought a pair of winter mittens at Ocean State Job Lot and these seem to do a much better job than winter gloves for roof-raking and shoveling snow.

Me-thinks that mittens beat gloves every day of the week and twice on Sunday for warm hands!

I had an older snow thrower. A couple of years ago, it wore out and instead of throwing more parts at it, I decided to buy a new one.

I ended up with an Ariens, and it had heated grips. When purchasing it, i thought: What do I need these stupid things for, I grew up in New England, and certainly know how to choose warm winter gloves!

I think it took me until the second snow storm to try turning on the heated grips, just to see if they work and if they would help at all. I figured I'd never feel them since I was wearing good gloves!

Let me tell you, it didn't take me long to start thinking, these are wonderful! It makes a huge difference in comfort! I don't know what took them so long, this is a perfect use for them!

So don't knock them, until you have tried them! Especially on very cold days when it's sub-zero and blowing!

I said the same about a heated steering wheel in my truck. Now that I have a truck with one, I will never buy a vehicle without it!

Mittens are three times warmer than gloves, and you can drive a manual stick shift or run a snowblower wearing mittens.

Smaller people. I worked with the daughter of the president of Nike China some years back, and he wanted to gift me a polo shirt...but they didn't make a size large enough (I'm usually an American X/XXL)!

While a new Ariens snowblower sells for $1200 - $1500 - $1800 ..... it is not too difficult to find a ten year old Ariens for $300 that has been stored indoors and still runs, and needs just one or two items greased or repaired/replaced.

I'm not sure how bulky those are, but the nice thing about the heated handgrips is that I can use lighter, more dexterous gloves that make it easy to shovel, brush off tight corners (stairs, mailbox, car mirrors), etc.

The only mitts I own are for winter hiking, and I only use those when static—last week we hiked Camel's Hump in 10 below weather, and I only had them on for ten or fifteen minutes.

All other times, I'll use liner gloves and/or a lightweight glove shell.

If heated grips on a snowblower are anything like a heated steering wheel, game changer! I mocked heated steering wheels until I bought a used car with one - it's awesome! I bet heated grips are similar; once you try them you love them.
