Interesting you mention atmosphere. It is a bit cold and stuffy compared to other local restaurants. Thought it was just us

Judging by the parking lot on Wednesday night they are off to a good start. We kept on driving and went to Fratello's.

The steak prices at Bernini are crazy. More expensive than O by a longshot. We hope to go soon, just not for steak

When you go into the North End for dinner, most of the restaurants don't serve coffee or desert. They want to turn the table over as many times as they can in a night but there are plenty of desert and coffee places to go and get your fix after dinner. I wonder if that was the thinking with Bernini's because it was so small and short hours?

We took a shot without a reservation and stopped in at Bernini's last night. They were able to fit us in at a small table for 2. The food and drinks were excellent. Very pleased.

I think their steak prices are still crazy compared to even what O charges, but the pasta dishes we had were priced fairly and were tasty.

They have a Ninja frozen drink machine behind the bar and do a daily slushie drink special. Last night was some sort of vodka creamsicle concoction so I didn't go with it, but when they are doing margaritas, I will be there.

Cool Needs sound reducing features - food was inconsistent

We tried the newly remodeled restaurant on Saturday. The renovation added seating on the sides and absorbed the patio seating. The new seating has high ceilings, but is acoustically harsh making it noisy inside. All areas of seating remain very noisy and it is hard to have a normal level conversation. The restaurant really needs to add some sound damping features.

Collectively, we all thought that the food was only ok. One dish had overcooked chicken and another ravioli with no sauce. It was crowded and hopefully it is better on a quieter day.

Been to the old place before it was remodeled 7 or 8 times, it's been loud every time I've been there.

Noise is a problem in almost every restaurant in the Lakes Region. You would think the owners would realize their customers want a nice quiet dinner, not a party.

I have noticed since all restaurants have removed carpeted floors and have gone to hard, easy to clean floors that most are too noisy!

Very few seem to spend the money on improving the acoustics.

Honestly, I never could understand why they ever used carpets, I can't imagine it was sanitary at all. But I can now appreciate the acoustic improvement that comes with carpeted flooring!

When I was a kid, my dad owed a "night club" for a few years in No. Reading MA. I vaguely remember that it was a bit controversial at the time when he had carpets installed on some walls! Now I can appreciate the reasons for it!

Post Acoustic ceiling tiles and upper wall panels would help

A better approach is to use sound absorbing tiles on the ceiling and upper wall panels. The idea is to keep the sound from revererating by bouncing off the hard surfaces. This does reduce amplitude and echoing. When diners can not clearly make out the conversation, they talk louder which exacerbates the noise level. Carpeting in a restaurant is hard to keep clean.

We are also from North Reading - lived there over 40 years before moving up here.

I think that the clientele contribute to the noise issue.

In NH there are many older people.

Old people don't hear well.

Not realizing that they are doing so, they talk louder.

Their intended listener cannot hear well so they talk LOUDER.

Now add in a full dining room full of LOUD TALKERS, all competing to get their point across above the rising din.

Throw in a couple of drinks which makes EVERYTHING FUNNY and you get boisterous laughter.

Pity the servers that are getting industrial level noise while waiting tables!

Several people have recently given personal reviews of the food being overpriced and so-so tasting. I thought the pizza was nothing to write home about. The garlic knots are the biggest attraction, everyone loves them.

Where are you seeing these reviews?

Almost all of the Google reviews from the last year are stellar, including one that gave 4 stars for food quality even though "The food was excellent – we loved the salmon and sautéed mushrooms, which were both perfectly prepared."

I get that Facebook page reviews aren't always trustworthy, but what are you/people using that's more reliable than Google?

Can’t remember a bad food review. What we have experienced is noise and crowds. The bar seats are tightly packed. Uncomfortable to eat.
