The Minni Mt. Washington

yesterday, I had the very fourtunate expieriance of having a conversation with the very lovely couple that own the minni mt. they drove It to the merideth town docks for the steamboat and antique car show. for many years I wanted to see her close up. yesterday I got my wish.

I took many pictures I will post a few.

We were very fortunate a few years ago to get a ride on the Mini Mount. The history of that boat, as well as a history of the full size Mount were all part of the ride. It was interesting to hear, fun to ride, and a memory that comes alive each time I see the boat itself or even just a picture of it. They are indeed wonderful people who do the lakes region proud with their labor of love, the Mini Mount.

I was wondering what scale it was and found it (1/5'th !?!?) in an old thread. FYI ... http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/...read.php?t=514

ps - We should find some rich friends who have a similar interest in boats of yore and team them up with RG & mcdude. We could have a fleet of historic lake mini-steamers (the 'bitty Belknap, the 'lil Lady of the Lake, the ??? Chocorua). Wouldn't that be a parade !

Here's a shot by SkipperoftheSeaQue, in the PhotoPost section. It gives an excellent perspective with regard to size. The poster makes a good reference point - check out the Jeep in the right of the photo for an excellent size reference.

Then for another perspective with regard to the "people" check out this shot, also taken by Skipper of the Sea Que. In the caption for this photo he notes how it looks like a lot of people walking around on deck ...

Isn't it truly amazing how convinced our brain can be by what our eye is sure it sees!

have you not seen the pictures of the minni mt. that I posted. I feel that they give a much better prospetive of Its size.

Wow! Just found them, and indeed they show, by far, the best perspective of it's size!

I particularly like the one showing the human standing on deck, against the backdrop of "passengers"!

What a treat it must have been for you to see this amazing vessel up close like that!!!!!

tuesday when I took the pictures In merideth, I counted only 4 passengers seats In the front, I forgot to look at the rear, b ut I dont recall any rear seats. I may have overlooked the rear seats, I dont know.

The couple that owns and built The mini Mt., The millers, told me It has twin 350 V-8s plus a bow thruster (deisel) and It is 1/5 Scale. I saw 4- seats plus the pilot up front. there was such a crowd that mobbed It that i had to take pictures over other peoples shoulders.
It drew more people than the steam boats did.
