Default Naswa Owner's Death

Got a call last PM telling me that Peter Makris owner of the Naswa had passes away. This was conformed today as his obituary is in the Boston Globe. Peter and his family have worked real hard entertaining guests for many years. Our sympathy's go out to the family.

Default GodSpeed Peter!

You will be greatly missed! I can't imagine going to the NASWA and not seeing you there greeting everyone with those loveable dogs! My deepest condolences to Cynthia and the rest of the Makris family!

Default family relation?

I know George Makris who runs the boat salvage yard in Meredith. I wonder if it is the same family?

Default cHEREs to you, Peter!

First of all, thanks to OHR for beginning this thread. If I were not a daily forum member it would have been a bit longer before I would have heard of my friend Peter's death. Second, I would like to say the misspelling of "cheers" in my post title is deliberate.

Peter will be sorely missed by those of us long-time patrons and friends of the Makris family. I dread telling my 11-year old "NASWA baby" (so-called by Cindy and Peter et al back in the day) of Peter's death, he always loved when Peter saw us docking and came down the dock to greet my son and I can't see to type anymore, sorry.

Peter,

Default Peter

It was sad to hear about Peter's illness and death. The family is very loving and giving - they are very supportive of the community and do much more than you'll ever know. My deepest sympathy to the family at this time of their loss.

Unreal. My thoughts are with the family and close friends. Naswa has always been a welcome stop on the lake.

Default Services for Peter Makris

Did any of the forum members attend the wake, funeral, or celebration of Peter's life?

My husband's aunt attended all three events. We were unable to attend (no sitter). I hear it was quite a turnout.

I attended the wake...

It was an AWESOME reflection of Peter's life... Hundreds of people turned out. I got there at 6:00pm on the nose and it took me 1.5hrs to get thru the line... and I didn't see one person leave the line. It is truly a great measure of a mans life that there was standing room only at his wake!!

GodSpeed Peter! My deepest condolences once again to the Makris family.

Thanks Argie's Wife, Woodsy, and Broadhopper........ I was not able to get up there for any of it -- same reason as A's Wife, no sitter. Peter and Cynthia were amazing with me, helped me a lot when I lost my dad back in '98, and now it's my turn with Cynthia. As BH said, "GodSpeed Peter", and I will add RIP, Peter, you sure deserve to!!!!!!! God Bless a wonderful man, and a wonderful legacy he left behind in his family.
