I ran across something very interesting.
You may recall on one of the boating certificate threads I posted part of an email that I got from the NH Marine Patrol in response to a question I email them asking whether a NASBLA approved certificate issued by Boatwise, was recognized in NH. The NHMP emailed me back that NH does not recognize any boating certificates issued by private entities (paraphrasing, if you want to search for the email for the exact wording feel free). So I informed a number of people that I knew had the Boatwise certificates of the NHMP answer to my email question. One of those folks signed up for a proctored test by the NHMP, took it and passed. During his conversation with the NHMP officer following the test, the officer who administered the test said his Boatwise certificate would have been fine! ??????????????????????? |

I called NH Marine education (Forgot the proper name) last September and faxed them a copy of my certificate that I got from boat-ed.com. They called me back and said it was acceptable, so that's what I'll use.

If I recall Boat-Ed is the "approved" private entity that used to provide online tests. What my question relates to is that we (my group) contacted NHMP to ask what we thought would be a straightforward question and in answers by two different officers we got conflicting answers.
So which answer are we to believe? Which answer is correct? Last edited by Airwaves; 07-15-2008 at 10:06 PM. Reason: repeating the question |

This topic is so confusing that it comes up over and over again and it seems that even the MP doesn't always get it right.
I'm REALLY glad I have a USPS certificate which is specifically called out in the statute as being acceptable. Ken |

You have a certificate from the United States Postal Service? WOW, I didn't know they were offering courses.
