Thumbs up Corn Maze - Alton, NH (Prospect Mt. Rd)

The oldest Argelet's Cub Scout troop had an outing today at the new corn maze in Alton, NH. It was a great time - I wish we'd done this earlier in the year as they only have about a week left open.

The farm is located on Prospect Mt Road, off Route 28S. It's a beautiful old farm that sits on the river, with wide-open fields, a big barn with animals - you get the idea. The maze wasn't huge but it was just right for my guys (ages 8 and 4 years old). There was an apple gun they could shoot (three shots for $1) and they could lob the fruit across the river - great fun.

They have a cute little snack shack there - remember the old caboose that was next to Johnson's (back when it was the Whistlestop or Dot's)? Well, that's now the snack shop for this place and the prices are low - fifty cents for a coffee, hot cider, or cocoa. A dollar will get you cookies, homemade doughnut, or pretzels.

There's a great play area for the kids - a "cornbox" - sandbox filled with dried corn - the kids loved it! (And adults played in it, too - it was just that cool.)

They're doing a haunted corn maze this weekend and next for Halloween. I don't think we'll be doing that - my guys are too little yet for that - but it sounded great and affordable.

It was a very nice time outside and the boys are sleeping well tonight!
