Default Mountain View Manna - new to me

A few months ago I had breakfast at the Melt Away in Belmont/Tilton. They served a great bread for toast- orange cranberry. They told me they buy the bread in a little place down the street. For weeks I've been meaning to stop in. I finally did about 3 weeks ago. The place is called Mountain View Manna and if you were on Rt 3 headed to Winnisquam, its a little yellow cottage on the right hand side of the road somewhere between the Shalimar and the bridge. I think the cottage used to be a cigar store and maybe a trading card store at one point. Anyway, the bread they make is wonderful. For the past 3 weeks I've been buying a loaf of either the Maple Walnut or Orange Cranberry-they make a killer french toast! They also make wheat and and asiago but I haven't strayed from the sweet recipes yet. Its a tiny place and they don't keep a large inventory in the store-I think they're still fairly new in the location and trying to work out the right level of demand. The gentleman in the store is husband of the baker and is very friendly. I can't wait to head up this weekend and replentish my bread supply. Anyone tried them? Or have they been around forever and I'm just discovering them?

They are located in the little shop that used to be a cigar shop. We stopped in about 4 weeks ago and bought a loaf of bread. They do not have a large selection...I think that it gets thin later in the day (when we stopped in); but, the quality was very high. The loaf did not last long in the house. We will stop in again. They are a little pricey...but you certainly get what you pay for.

Default Great picture!

It gives me hope for better weather in the future. When I drove past the Meltaway this weekend they had various specials spray painted on the huge snow banks! They use the bread from Mountain View Manna- whose store is about a mile or so down the road from the Meltaway. Bought the Oatmeal Molasses and a loaf of Wheat Cinnamon Raisin this week- both yummy!

Default Mountain View Manna - new to me, too

I discovered Mountain View Manna recently, but it wasn't opened yet. (Seasonal shop, I think.) I'm so glad to read about their bread, here.

I parked there while I was taking some reference photos around the lakes, for future artwork. I wanted to capture how the landscape looks at the end of winter, when the scenery can be stark and really have an impact. It can give such a sense of solitude, y'know? (I love all four seasons, but really, this winter was a little bit long, even for me. )

The Mountain View Manna store looked attractive, even closed. My husband and I love fresh-baked bread, so I'll make a point of getting to the store early. (Does anyone know if they carry gluten-free breads? My daughter has to avoid wheat. I'll call the store and ask.)

I'm trying to shop at more "mom & pop" stores, to encourage local businesses. I think it's time for that. I live close to Tilton, so I already shop at Gemini Health Emporium. However, I'm spending more & more time around Winnipesaukee -- and the lakes in general -- especially painting en plein air (in the fresh air, at the location). So, additional natural/healthy food options are a good thing. (Any other suggestions are welcomed. We moved here about three years ago and I'm still discovering what's where.)

Finding Mountain View Manna was a happy surprise, and I'm glad to see the rave reviews here. I'll definitely give them a try. (Now that the snow seems finally to be gone, I'll need fresh reference photos for my paintings, anyway. Good excuse for another drive around the lakes!)
Also, if you see a woman at an easel, and she's in her late 50s with reddish hair, it might be me. Stop and say hello!
Here's my photo from about a dozen yards from Mountain View Manna. (I'm not sure how to get photos to fit nicely into posts in this forum... sorry about the space this takes up!)
