"Hot Dog Bob"

Today was a GOOD day, the fact that it was warm, sunny, and lots of people were around makes it a good day, but the fact the "Hot Dog Bob" was at his post on the Wolfeboro Town Docks with his hot dog (and much more) cart makes it a GOOD day. Today was sort of a soft opening for the season, but he'll have an ad in the paper next week and then he'll be ready to 'take on the summer' and do his hot dog thing all summer long.

I'll make my usual disclaimer: I am not related to Hot Dog Bob, nor do I have an interest in the business, I just enjoy his hot dogs.

I'm with you,Camp guy....nothing better than a nice steamed dog....especially a natural casing dog that snaps when you bite into it.
Tell Bob to spend a day or two at the Center Harbor town docks and I'll be his best customer.

Camp guy, I hate to disagree but the best thing about Hot Dog Bob is not his Hot Dogs but Bob himself. What a great guy, always has a smile and loud greeting for all of his customers.

Barndoor - you are sooooooooooooooo right!! He is the textbook definition of "friendly customer service". And, if you met up with him on the snowiest day in January with temperatures below zero he'd be JUST the same as he is in the summer. (And that's the truth!)

I am not sure that Bob steams the dogs. I got the impression it was a baked dog (at home) and kept hot in the cart. It was great.

Coming from the hotdog king, I would hope he is not baking them. As a matter of fact, I've never heard of baking hotdogs. Most carts are set up to at least have the hotdogs in hot water. Natural casing dogs are the only way to go and if they are brought to the proper temp they will have a great snap to them. Trust me as I've made millions of them.

Back in the 50s in Northern New Jersey there was a diner that Deep Fried their nearly foot long hot dogs. The dogs would split open lengthwise during cooking. Add sauerkraut and mustard. Yummy.

PPS: We usually DID this diner when we were winding down from an "Out and About" situation on Friday night..Saturday morning at maybe 1:30 AM....Those were the days...

You could be right but baking a hot dog is one of my favorite ways to make them split.

Is that a word? Sorry guys but the last thing you want to do is make a hotdog split while cooking. That would be comparable to cutting a steak while cooking and letting all that wonderful flavor/juice drain away.

I'm the guy that yells at the guy on the barbecue making all those cuts in the hotdog before cooking them

I raised the question of 'baked hot dogs' to Bob, and he assured me that he cooks his hotdogs right there at the cart on the docks. Anyone walking by is welcome to watch his culinary skills in action.

That is Bill. He served Nathan's last time I was there. Not sure if he still does. Bob has Sabrette's (sp?). I like natural casing and I like Nathan's. Hot dog Bob wins with his fresh squeezed lemonade!

As usual this season, as an online ordained minister, Hot Dog Bob will be performing Hot Dog Bobaptisms at the Wolfeboro boat ramp at noon on Saturdays starting in July. Right next to the cart ....and the Bobaptism party gets their choice of great cart food and drink. Book early as these are going fast!!
