Saw pretty heavy black smoke across the lake Sunday from Rt11 heading from Alton toward Gilford Sunday @ 1pm in the direction of Moultonboro. Could have been just someone burning brush but the smoke plume was black and pretty big to be a brush pile. Hopefully all it was brush. Anybody else see this?/

We saw it from our vantage point at the end of Moultonboro Neck, and called 9-1-1. It was some kind of training exercise for the Tuftonboro fire department...it was a controlled burn. There was a lot of smoke for 15 or 20 minutes...gray at first, then turning black.

The Tuftonboro FD burned a building owned by Camp Belknap I believe.

I came around Chase point by boat heading towards Pier 19 and noticed the black smoke. I was thinking it was a distance away. Come to find out, it was right next door to my house.

Maybe KPW knows more than I do but I think it was a caretaker or director's house at one time. Yes, As KPW said the house was in the field if you can still call it a field and you could see it from the road if you looked in.

The previous head of Belknap retired a couple years ago. He moved out of the house when the new camp head came in. Unfortunately, the new camp head had children and when they moved into the house they found an incredible mold in the house, so much that it couldn't be cleaned up. I believe the camp purchased the house on the corner of Chase Point Road and 109 and they live there now. The Tuftonboro FD held training exercises at the house Sunday and then burned it down.
