Try “uncle Hilde’s” in Moultonborough. Last month I replaced all my deck boards with 1x5 white cedar from him

Lowe's didn't have it?
I always thought they carried structural white. |

I've been looking for 5/4 X6 X12 to replace my dock tops. Stuff at Uncle Hildes is too narrow...only 4 1/2 inches. I see Lowes does have some at about $16 per length. Since I need 50 of them (or 100 if they are 6 ft long), price does matter. Any tips would be appreciated.

Could you rip a 6x6 cedar post? Not sure how many you need. Also, Center Harbor Docks still use cedar and custom makes pieces. Worth a call

If you are unable to find anything in the immediate area, try Goosebay Lumber in Chichester.

Winnipesaukee Lumber aka Hancock Lumber ...... in Wolfeboro Falls, NH ..... is a mostly Maine lumber business that has a saw mill in Casco Maine .... a good place to ask about white cedar.

If they don't stock it, they should be able to order it for you. Winni stopped stocking it but could still order it, not sure what Hancock is doing.

Steve- call Bill Finethy at Gilford Home Center. He said he may be able to order it. I just talked to him. Or just composite the damn thing and stop this annual pain and suffering you put yourselves through! |

We have 5/4x6 Alaskan Yellow at Meredith.
We don't carry white cedar. The older format was red knotty. But that is more expensive than what you are finding at Lowes. 12' of the AYC is 32.95 You could ask Mike Mussen what he could do for you... But I don't think we have purchase much cedar since the price went berserk a couple years back. |

Azek is more waterproof than composite.
But you may want to check Zuri in comparison... It is about the same price as the nicer Azek and much more scratch resistant. In the past, I used the Azek in the gray, and Coastal for the picture framing and trim to spiff it up but keep the price down. *Azek decking is now TimberTech Advanced PVC. |

We have Azek/Timbertech at our home. It is one of the higher grade ones (english walnut). I find that it scratches very easily. I would go with a different product given the chance.
The product that we have on the island is a brand that I had never heard of (can't remember what it is). We got it from Dave Farley for our dock, then did our deck to match. It is very durable, much more so than Azek. Very happy with it. |

Striking out everywhere I look. I can order it from the original supplier in New Brunswick, but with shipping and tariffs it would be insanely expensive!

Any of us can order it...
Just a matter of time and cost. We all order from the same outlets. So it takes the same amount of time... and in general... cost the same amount. Atlantic Cedar in structural format just isn't something that most carry. Even getting it in shingle/shake format generally requires a special order. |
