Hiring a young lady who always wears an attractive swim suit will most definitely do a lot to increase boat gas sales with more boaters deciding they want to buy gas, there. This is a no-brainer. It really makes a big difference because people buy with their eyes .......
."You know, I think we should stop in here and go buy some boat gas!" ..... ho-ho-ho

This is so totally and completely true for small business like a boat gas dock or a hardware store or a fishing store or anyplace where majority customers are men. A good look'n, chatty, slightly provocatively dressed sales lady will ALWAYS bring in more men customers to buy more boat gas, hardware, and fishing items.
Absolutely, positively, absolutely ...... you better believe it ..... !

Am talking about adult women, and not children here with these comments. Businesses like a hardware store do well to hire women where many customers are men and it just makes for better retail communication.
Have a good three day weekend, everyone! Looks like summer finally got here.

No we don't.
It is immoral. We hire them because they want the job and are willing to do the work to learn the product. We don't hire based on sex or abject appearance. |

The marinas around the lake winterize and store thousands of boats. The spring launch is especially stressful to them because of the time and the amount of people it takes to get it done.
Once a boat is moved from storage, uncovered, cleaned, and started, many customers prefer to have their boat delivered to their house and tied at the dock. Depending upon the location where the boat is docked (or racked) this can tie up two people and a vehicle for quite a while. And, that assumes that the start and run does not reveal any problems with the boat that will require parts and repairs. I think there is an opportunity for someone to work 6 to 8 weeks in the spring, take the summer off, and do it again in the fall. A retired person with a CDL would be especially useful to the marinas for the larger and heavier boats. Many of the marinas also have new boat deliveries of the boats that were sold over the winter. Some are going to other lakes, and some to other states. That consumes the employees for a long time and the marinas would be happy to have additional help to do this. When dealers work shows, like Boston, many of their sales come from other lakes, not just Winnipesaukee. I have spoken with several people in the industry and all of them would be glad to have more qualified, competent help. That need is especially true for mechanics and drivers. |
