I would like to get one but how can this be legal. I have seen them on the lake several times without registration.

A few years ago I put a small electric motor on a pedal-boat and was told I must register it and display bow numbers and sticker. I don't see how to do that on a foil. The size of the motor does not matter. If it is mechanically powered it must be registered. |

I registered my foil-less efoil at Irwin Marina. Even had electric propulsion checked. Since they are still uncommon I figured I’m bound to get stopped by the patrol boat. I have not put the stickers on yet. I plan to put some bright PPF on mine before I put the stickers on. They do not need bow numbers. You answered your own question. |

Two 90-degree 4"x4"x18" boat registration angle plates made out of white or black pvc are what's used on electric sup's to display their 3" registration numbers on both sides of the bow, and these plates get glued to the flat horizontal surface, on the bow, with waterproof double-sided tape.
