Google Arch McDonald, a local and very, very RR skilled local artist. There was a large extraordinary beautiful brick and granite railroad station in Concord that I knew very well as a train obsessed kid that was torn down in the seventies as an "urban renewal" project. Truly a travesty.
The same architect designed the stations in Portland and Worcester and unfortunately they have suffered the same regretful fate

Union Station in Worcester, MA is still very much in operation. Was there another station in Worcester or are you talking about another Worcester

You're right Lon, I worded the sentence incorrectly, Portland Union Station and Concord were the ones torn down in the sixties.

I'm not sure this is what you're looking for, but I read "Life by the Tracks," by Virginia Downs a couple years ago, and it was really good.

It's about the Crawford Notch railroad trestle way up there and the family that lived there for most of its existence.

The Library of Congress has a huge digital archive as does the Boston Public Library and MIT.

I know for a fact the old train station in Worcester is still operating and restored. My cousin Frank Noel owned it some time in the 1980s or 1990s.

It's a little more than I would spend for a book so I will stop by the Meredith library tomorrow and see if they can get it for me, the reviews look good.

I've collected many pics of the old RR stations on the Lakeshore, Wolfeboro and the Cocheco (Rochester to Alton) lines. Check out threads on each in the history section Soaring Eagle. Here is a rare and pristine postcard, printed in Germany 1916, of the Loon Cove Station now located at RR park in Alton.

Google “Railroad Stations in New Hampshire”. Lightlink.com has an incredible archive of all NH railroad stations. McDude - I’m a longtime reader and am in awe of your knowledge and postcard collection. Sorry to see they’re going on eBay. Time for others I guess. Thank you for all the info you have shared.
