Was off last week which means my annual experience of pretending to be a tourist for a couple days and this year showing around a friend and wife who have never been to NH before. Too many places to be able to hit every favorite every season but we try our best.
Went to Vida in Meredith for the first time. I thought this was very good. tortillas were good, which is a common failing of mexican places away from the border. All in all a good experience and as authentic as anything in the area. Lobster roll at little red school house. WMUR #2 spot and well deserved. Skip the fries though, Poor people's pub is still voted #1 but have not been there this year. lunch at village kitchen. I had the club sandwich which was great, perfect bacon on it. A dinner at Almost There in Conway. Mostly a bar menu. I had tips which were 5 star, friend had a lobster roll which he said was bland compared to little red schoolhouse Ice Cream at Skelly's. The kid working that day was mr enthusiasm and the quality is always good. Also made a stop at John's roast beef. Always good, price has crept up over the years but so has everywhere else. |

Glad you had a great vacation. I had occasion to show a new-to-NH person around last week, too—my nephew from Texas was in town. It's definitely a reminder of the good stuff we have that can't be found elsewhere. Sent from my SM-S931U using Tapatalk |

My daughter entertained some women friends from Ohio and Wisconsin last week. My house is in Meredith, so they mostly stayed local. I believe they went to The Docks, Vida, and The Winery, then one night they got lobsters at Hannifords. They also visited Boston and Salem Ma before they came to NH.
All in all, they were very impressed with their first visit to New England. They were really impressed by how clean the lake and the whole area was compared to where they are from. They wanted to visit Maine also but my daughter had to do all the driving do she was spent at the end of 5 days. |

Long story short, he spent his first ten years in foster care in Kansas, Louisiana, and Texas, so he'd never seen mountains, etc.
Day #1: Drive to camp from Nashua (breakfast at Bobola's) after his parents flew off. Kayak/visit to Blanchard Island to jump off the rock; tubing/sunset/swimming on the boat. Day #2: Castle in the Clouds tour, Moultonborough Country Store, West Alton sandbar, late lunch at Foster's in Alton Bay (Pop's was closed, decided to try Foster's over Pub 23), firefly hunting followed by campfire (s'mores with Reese's peanut butter cups). Day #3 (rainy day): drive around the lake stopping at Wolfeboro for shopping and treats at Yum Yum, lunch at South End Pizza, Funspot, and Ice cream at Kellerhaus, outdoor projector movie night. Day #4: Mt. Robert's hike, go-karting at Weirs Beach, Funspot (to spend remaining tokens), doors off/top down ride home for KC's Rib Shack dinner and pack. Day #5: nephew flies home.
