Default Welch Power

Power is down on Welch Island at least on the West side. It went down around 4:30 AM today.

No worries, just saw the NHEC landing craft towed down Shep Brown's launch ramp.

Electricity will be back on Welch Island by NOON, today. I guarantee it!

Default New poles too

Got a Robo call around 8:30 this morning from Eversource saying power outages in the area. They also called a couple of days ago to confirm availability of our landing area for a backhoe and other equipment. In addition to tree cutting, they will be replacing some poles. I didn't ask for a schedule.

Default Power still down!

The power is still down on Welch as of this morning. I think we are pretty low on the priority list according to Eversource. I guess many places throughout the state lost power during the wind and rain storm the other night and not many people have called in the outage on Welch. As a matter of fact, they said I was the only one! Anyway, if you have a place on Welch and don’t have power, I recommend reporting it to Eversource.

I assume you have a generator? So then the next issue is how long will the gas last.

Hi Tis,

Yes we have a generator, been running non stop for almost 30 hours now. It uses very little gas at about 5 gallons every 24 hours or so. I keep 30 gallons on hand for times just like this so all set in that respect. The Generator will pretty much run the entire house less the oven and dryer.

You have to be prepared if you live on the islands!

Oh that is great. I remember when we had a bad storm go through here (do you remember the one that hit Bald Peak hard?) and we were out for a few days so I was worried. But it seems our generator doesn't use too much gas either. I assumed, knowing you that you had everything under control!
