Default Fire Danger Signs

Someone mentioned the "Fire Danger" signs on another thread. My perception is that the signs are inconsistent so that on the same day the one in Meredith says the fire danger is "high" and Moultonborough says it is "low." It wouldn't matter so much if there were not a serious intent and purpose behind the signs ,but they do not seem to be very reliable except to at least make people think about fire danger. I have nothing but the highest respect for firefighters, but what is the story behind the signs? Who is responsible for their accuracy? In some ways if they are not somewhat accurate, it probably would be better not to have them at all.
