Default Major Pattern Change... Finally!

After a disastrous June/July and a so/so August, it now appears we are entering a brand new pattern for the month of September. That pesky polar jet stream which has plagued us all summer is finally showing signs of weakening and retreating back into Canada whence it came. While the southern US turns cooler and unsettled over the next few weeks, the north will become mild and dry as high pressure crests overhead.

So not to jinx it, but I think this is setting up to be one of the nicest Septembers in recent memory. I think rainfall will become a rare commodity over the next few weeks and believe it or not we may turn excessively dry by the middle of the month. Lake heights are still relatively high now but it would not surprise me to eventually fall to something like 2007 levels by the end of the month.

Bottom line- if you were debating on taking a few days off over the next few weeks to head up to the lake, don't hesitate.
