Deciding on a summer vacation...

Hello folks-

My family and I are deciding on where to take our family vacation this summer and Lake Winnipesaukee is one of our top three choices. However, I've never been there before and I hope that some Lake Winnipesaukee regulars could help us make our decision.

We are possibly coming for a week in mid-August. We are a family of four (Mom, Dad, our 4 1/2 year old daughter and our 3 year old son). Can you tell me what kinds of things we should know about the area to clinch the deal and decide to book a vacation in Lake Winnipesaukee over going to Cape Cod or Cape May, NJ?
