Back in the day, boat owners having a VHF had to get a VHF "Station" license which included "Call Letters" assigned to the boat. An "Operators" license was also required. I think the "Operators" license is no longer required..not sure if the "Station" license is still around. It was no big deal..NOT like a getting a "Ham" License which actually required training, competence, and an exam.
![]() Proper use of the radio required identifying yourself by your "Call Letters" and boat name when using the radio. OH for the good ole days. NBHoly {stuff}: I just hit 2000 posts.
