However, when this was discussed on the NH airwaves after the 2004 election, opponents stated that the social costs amounted to three times the benefit of increased state revenues. The "benefits" New Jersey is experiencing bears this out. New Hampshire could take a page from other coastal states and regulate offshore gambling, in which cruise ships depart for three miles offshore in order to gamble. (And it's day or night—there's scant view at three miles anyway).
