We are down to 20 days and counting before we make the trek from northern NJ to Alton Bay. We can't wait!
![]() Here is my dilemna. My kids and husband are convinced that the moose leave the state once I cross the border. I've been coming to the lake and points north for, dare I say it for fear of revealing my age, 46 summers and a few winters, too. I have never seen a moose other than the plastic ones at the souvenir shops and the cartoon depictions on the mugs I buy every summer (12 and counting). We were in Canada last summer (Montreal and Quebec and in between) and didn't see one there either. We heard they moved south in mid-July in anticipation of my arrival. We have driven hither and yon at the appropriate time of the day, scoped out moose hang-outs and, well, nothing. My husband jokes that there are really no such things as moose. They are a marketing ploy to get people to come to NH and Maine (and Canada). Although we have seen pictures of moose, well, he thinks they are faked. Photoshop is a great thing. ![]() So, what should I do to break this curse? If the Red Sox can do it, then, really, I should be able to. Any thoughts? Advise? Suggestions? ![]() Will this be the year I see a moose? Nah. It'll never happen. I hear they are moving towards the state lines already. It's a long trip from the center of the state. ![]() Jersey Girl
