This evening at around 6:45 PM a small herd of 13 deer attempted to migrate from Sleepers Island to the mainland near Smalls Cove. They almost made it to the shoreline when something (a neighbor's dog, we suspect) caused them to panic and run back toward Sleepers. It was a shame to see them expend so much energy to get to the mainland and then be scared back across the ice to the island.
