I had mega problems with Traveler’s business insurance.
Their audit questions are very open and if you do not put every detail of what you do down at the start of the policy they will request an account of each and every job you did and adjust rates accordingly. I had my business insured thru Melcher & Prescott and have since cut my ties with them as they provided absolutely no help what so ever. Also on another note you should shop rates at least every 3 years. It is a pain but could save you money and lots of it. This was recommended to me by an agent. My wife shops all of our policies each year and each year she saves hundreds. But we also are insuring our home here and in Maine, snowmobiles, ATV’s, 3 autos and 2 boats. You would be surprised how much the rates change from year to year and provider to provider. She has shopped the agencies that do the leg work like M & P and always found their rates a lot higher across the board. I'm in the process of gathering info from other contractors on who they recommend for providers before renewing. |

...as Belmont Resident.
I shop all of my insurance, house, cottage, cars and boat every 2-3 years. Key to this is having no claims, or infractions. We have been with Melcher and Prescott, Wainwright and are currently with All State. In my experience, if you bundle all of your insurance, you get the best offers. It's a pain in the backside, but our latest switch this year saved us over $300. (note, some of that is due to our cars and boat getting older. ) I've found that gathering up all of your policies, make a bunch of copies, and dropping by the various agents in town will save you money. ![]() Now if we could do the same for health insurance... Problem there is as we get older, unlike cars, the policies go up! ![]() Disclaimer! Joke... not intended to start a "Health Insurance Debate" Everyone is already sick of that!!

Since I joined AARP
, I called Hartford for auto insurance and they gave me the best quote compared to all of the above and more. Same for condo, house, boat and trailer and snowmobile and trailer. They gave me a huge discount for multipolicy. They also roll the liability insurance into one policy instead of individual policies. Much like an Umbrella insurance. I would give them a call. For State Farm, I would call Thomas Francouer in Gilford. A great guy to work with.

We are really happy with AAA for both our home and auto.
We used to be with Metlife and I shopped around quite a bit. No one could touch AAA. I've had more than my share of claims in the last 3 years too. I swear my car had a bullseye on it. Never an issue. Quick claim settlement. In fact, when we were flooded out in 2008, AAA got a remediation company out here the next day and they do not carry our flood insurance. When the remediation guys showed up, they told me they were shocked when they were sent out our way since the seacoast was such a mess. Our agent is Krista Storrs out of the Manchester office. |

Any suggestions for a good home and auto insurance agent in the area? We have been with our agent for 20 years. I made an appointment with the agent recently as I has some questions. I had only met him once before-20 years ago. When I met with him he was very unprofessional and I was extremely disappointed. We will be changing agents. We have had our home, auto, and boat policies with him.

1. Visit a couple of local auto body shops.
Ask the manager/owner of shop what the best auto insurance companies to deal with. Choose one of these. 2. Pick a local agency. Ask around your local area for one. Make sure the local agency handles what the auto body shops recommended. 3. Skip the nationally advertised ones that offer "cheap" rates. You will end up with cheap insurance and potentially lots of hassle. |
