Absolutely SL!!... They are into other things as well, however are doing a fine job here with quality control in the US. and around the world, for that matter.

Mercedes Benz found out back in the 80s after opening a huge manufacturing plant in Brazil to build their truck line at the time, to cut the import taxes of their vehicles being imported here to the US., Quality control became a big problem for them to the point that they gave up and stopped importing their truck line. You can still buy trucks made in Germany, and they are a very good, you just need a Wide Bodied Wallet!!

It was a great video however a little date. I myself was hoping they would show some more up to date video. But all in all still informative. I remember when MB truck division built a huge training and manufacturing facility in NC that is huge. Time we get back to American made and quality # 1 Just MHO

I've been keep'in an eye on any new news, nothing else yet...
The M/S Mount Washington's water testing will be sometime between now and before Mother's Day. Here's a link to the 2010 cruise schedule.

The re power and renovation project has sparked great interest and I'm sure that they will be giving us all an update video or two here shortly.

Stay tuned...

Talking She's on the Move!

The Mount must be headed for the Weirs pier!

This just in from Lake Winnipesaukee WeatherCam on Facebook:
The M/S Mount Washington is visible in the camera view, moving very slowly southeastward, flanked by the Doris E. and the mail boat Sophie C. The small boats appear to be at near-idle.

Default Thumbs up from the MOUNT crew!

After a little tweaking the MOUNT headed out on the big lake for some more trials today. She purred like a happy kitten and the crew were all smiles as she pulled into the Center Harbor dock. She is ready for shakedown! Boy, do the crew deserve a day off!

Default RG: Nice to See Her Back!

I'm sure it was nice to see her back, as much as it was tuff for us to see her leave. We see her through major surgery, nurse her back to health by protecting her from the wintery ice while she recovers, and then send her off with two nurses to make sure she'll be OK. Yes, we will miss her but we're so glad to hear that she'll be visiting her "mother" port at least once a week this season.

I took a swing by the Weirs yesterday and thought it funny that the Mount wasn't tied up there since I hadn't seen it on the lake. The web cam shots have been at the Weirs recently and I noticed this morning that its at Center Harbor. Final adjustments getting ready for the Mothers Day brunch cruise?

Rick35,
The Mount takes an annual "shake down" cruse just before the season opens to make sure everything is safe and ready for the serious responsibility of having that many folks on board for a safe trip the next weekend. We have had the privilege of being invited previously and there are lots of VIPs and safety stuff going on. It kind of appears to be the equivalent of the state inspection your car might get on steroids.

With all the work done this year, it is probably a much larger deal. They had what appears to have been a practice practice run the other day. Probably not a good idea to do the first run with the Governor and half the Senate and House on board. Especially with all the reporters on board.

I am anxious to hear what she sounds like. Hopefully not like my bike as a kid with 20 baseball cards cloths pinned to the spokes. Although that seemed cool at the time.

RG, thanks for posting. I'm sure every year takes a lot of effort to get everything ready but this year must have been especially difficult with the engine refit. Hopefully next Sunday is as nice as today was. What a great way to celebrate Mother's Day.

Default shake-down cruise in progress...

The Mount passed by Pine Island a few minutes ago on the shake-down cruise... and caught a few shots on the webcam as she went by... (apologize for the giant spider attacking the Mount in the 3rd frame!)...

Next year we want to be on board! -PIG
