well this stinks, he was a great voice in the boating community,
unfortunatley here we go with the replacement person that will need to come in and make a name for themselves

That's terrible news. All in all I truly believe he cared deeply for the state of New Hampshire and the safety of all boaters.

Condolence's to his family.

Sad news.

David was a great example of a fair and just public servant, who went over and above all expectations in getting the job done.

Condolences to his family and may he Rest in Peace.

Default Truly a sad day for Boaters and NH

I have known Director Barrett for many years. He was a great man, served this state and it's residents well for many years. He also was a fun loving gentleman outside of work, an avid snowmobiler for many years, as well as an accomplished Touring Motorcycle rider and aficionado. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family. I will miss the conversations we had over the years, God bless you DB!

There's not much information here, but it is the first article I've found online about Dave's passing:

Default Director Barrett

I had the opportunity to talk with him a few times. He is very knowledgeable and fair. Even the folks that work with him and under him enjoy working with him. Condolence to the family.

On page 11 of the LDS, there is a short caption that says there will be a celebration of life for the Director on Monday from 4 - 7pm on board the Mount Washington docked at Weirs Beach.

This is very fitting for such a great guy. I am very sad for his family. God speed Dir. Barrett. May you rest in peace.
