Thanks for the replies.
Both are Necky. The red "Gannett" kayak is 10-12' with skeg on a black cord and cleat. No watertight compartment. Elastic cord crossed on bow. Pretty basic, about 10 years old. The blue "Sky" Necky is shorter, same features (skeg & elastic). Both have sit-in cockpit. I do have bow serial numbers. Neighbor lost 2 yellow LLBean kayaks. Not sure about length, but pretty basic models. Thanks. |

Strong advice is to take a soldering iron and carve your name and number on the kayaks. It will be much more difficult for someone to remove. The thiefs needs to fill in the markings. Bad move to put your address on your items.
Many stolen items are pawned out of state, so I don't expect to see local items in Craigslist or local pawn shops.

Thieves - one of the lowest forms of scum on earth. This story is disgusting. I hope you find the kayaks and also the dirtbags who stole them.

Not making any assumptions here just putting it out there for what it's worth. |

Thanks for the replies. That post on craigslist is not ours but it is the same model and color. Ours has an after-market skeg with a cord on a cleat right at the back of the seat.
We may try pawn shops; I'm not sure whether they will cooperate. They probably get calls about stolen items all the time. The police said they would make inquiries and list the serial numbers in a national database. |

On my soapbox. The more I see all the randon killings and shooting of LEO's,the more I say just kill them right there on the spot.Sounds kind of severe but I think the penalties are just the opposite. What does this have to do with this thread?Assuming the criminals are caught and assuming they have anything of value, after the stolen items are recovered or paid for the victim should be allowed to take items of equal value from the theives to feel the same loss...plus the lawfull punishment.
