Funny you should recommend Blue. On our walk tonight my wife and I passed Blue and we were saying we should go there soon. Next week we are heading up to Marco in the North End. It was a toss up between Marco's and Sportello's.

Another steak house is Grille 23 (Stuart St.). Friends and I do x-mas dinners at the Boston steak houses and have been there twice. Flemmings...not so good, probably the worst of them all. Oak Room was a nice steak, but they burnt the garlic on our green beans. Capital Grille was nice (they have moved to the base of the Pru) Durgin Park...you might as well go to McD's. Not nice at all and the food is eh. Abe & Louie's I have yet to try but have heard wonderful things about it, plus most of the north end places that were mentioned, I would recommend as well. I haven't been to all of them, but some, and my very picky friend has been to the ones I haven't that were mentioned and loves them.
Except Mikes Pastry....go to Modern Pasty. Mike's is a tourist trap. Or there is another dessert place I can't think of the name (sorry), but there is a cigar bar underneath. Very good cannolis. Next to MammaMia's. |

I also think that bova's pastry in the north end is open 24 hours..or at least very very late if you may be out and about at an odd hour... |
