The Melt Away Creamery and sandwichery
So I just moved to the Laconia side of the lake and finally stopped in to the Meltaway shop with my family ( right near Lochmere CC ). What a great place!! I didn't realize how much they had to offer. They had a great selection of ice cream flavors and an equally great selection of food. Their menu included things like ratatouille in a bread bowl, grilled cheese with freshly grated cheese, steak and cheese, homemade veggie burgers, a variety cleverly created roast beef, turkey and ham sandwiches all of it homemade, even the bread. They also offer salads and a childrens menu. I just thought this was such a great place, it's an old colonial home turned into a gorgeous restaurant, very kid friendly as the owners have three small children themselves and you could tell they take a lot of pride in their business. I would highly recommend anyone to stop in and check it out.

Loved this place.
My daughter took us to this place when we were visiting in June. Had not known of it before, but it is VERY GOOD. Worth a try!

My wife and I stopped in there some time around bike week for a quick lunch, great food and the owners are obviously very involved in making the business succeed. Would highly recommend it.

Great Soup & Sandwich place
Stopped in today for some soup, and decided to get the 1/2 sandwich + soup combo. The clam chowder was great; not overly thick, with distinct clam taste and fresh potatoes. I wished I had ordered more than a cup. Then my sandwich arrived: A "half" Reuben that was as large as a whole would have been at some other places. It was too hot to dive right into (a plus), but once it cooled down to edible temp it was also very good.
I'll be stopping in again soon. |

Yum! Thumbs up!!
Hubby and I went here for lunch today on his recommendation from an earlier meal he deemed excellent. Today's was very good, borderline excellent in my view. Very fresh bread..sliced thick. Ham slices were like you would do with the left over Easter ham...thick, irregular and ample. Boursin cheese a nice touch, as was the cucumber. Now, I have a pretty good appetite (I thank my German ancestry) and I could only eat half of the sandwich...the rest is tomorrow's lunch. Hubby had half tuna sandwich (very ample portion) and the soup du jour...cream of carrot and Ginger. I have to say that it was some of the best restaurant soups I've tasted.
Highly recommend checking this place out. Wait staff were vey helpful and friendly as well. Two thumbs up!!! GB |

Beer and Wine
First, thank you all for your kind comments about The Meltaway. We appreciate your comments and support. Thank you!
Secondly, We just wanted everyone on this site to be aware that we just received our Beer and Wine License. We wanted to concentrate on the food, our internal processes, resources, and customers before we introduced beer and wine into the equation. We believe we've matured as a business and commercial entity and are now in a position to expand our offerings and capabilities. Beer and wine is part of that maturation process and better allows us to satisfy our customers and deliver a more complete menu. Please stop by and enjoy one of delicious menu items and a cold beer or glass of wine with your meal. We look forward to meeting and introducing you to our little family run restaurant. We think you'll have a very different experience, but one you will enjoy very much. Hope to see you soon. Jeffrey |

I just came across this thread and was wondering if they are still in business. I sure hope as I hate seeing nice places going under.

It didn't look open last time I went by (Sunday 7/13/14 @ 2PM) but it might just have been an off hour.
