Article today in the Citizen about the new $400K (starting price) condos that are part of Akwa project on hill overlooking Weirs ... don't think that if I had that kind of money I would want to live within walking distance of the Crazy Gringo... on the corner of Honky and Tonk.

One of three complexes being built. The price is pretty steep for that area. If someone wants to pay that kind of money, my bet he would rather locate in the 'boroughs.
I wish the developer well!

THey look amazing, but 400-600k for a condo not even on the water? Seems a bit high.

http://www.meredithbaynh.com/bluegil...ng-this-month/ is a large building....believe it is five stories high with an elevator .... Bluegill Lodge .... is a bluegill a sunfish?
What was there before? Undeveloped wooded hillside that overlooks Lake Winnipesaukee and Spindle Point area. Nothing succeeds like success .... so, which way to the two tennis courts ....oh no....way up that steep hill....what.....is there no chairlift to get up to the tennis courts? www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaXtH3ze2tk ... such a sunny day!

I'd buy one of the old cabins than share a building with a bunch of snobs!

...u-know the hotel and cabins in the photos above must have been demolished sometime prior to 1992....I have no clue as to when...but all that was there more recently, prior to the MeredithBayNH new construction was a remnant concrete foundation and an un-developed hillside growing trees...
...if only some developer could offer a buyout to the NH Veteran's Campground and Cottages....and remove all those olde unheated, un-used, un-snow-shoveled and un-occupied seasonal buildings that occupy the land across from the boardwalk... to some other location like on Route 3 in Loudon ... it would be a big big economic boost up for the Weirs area ...

What ever happened to Look Off Rock? It seems hard to believe a motel at that location could ever be unsuccessful.
It really makes my head spin when I think about how many lodging properties have gone from the Weirs area over the 30 years that I've been here.

Personally, I don't think those are very pretty condos. Of course everybody has different taste but I think there are a lot of condos right on the water for those prices that look a lot better. Just my opinion.

Of course....but that still means there is a sucker born every minute. Hey, if it works for someone, go for it. Personally, I would love one. But too expensive and too far a walk to the lake. I would rather be up the street 200 feet from the water in a community with my own home for that price.

It would seem to me that anyone who would buy in that building would feel some attraction to the lake. But, that is a pretty steep price for no waterfront, no dock, and no beach. If you buy in that building and want to have a boat, there is the additional annual cost of renting a boat slip. And, you will have to pack up the car with the cooler and the family and drive to the boat when you want to go out!
The price range that this puts you in opens up a number of waterfront possibilities, actually on the lake, that come with their own dock. It would not be a difficult decision for me. Having said that, the building down the street with a similar situation sold out a couple of years ago with prices in the $550,000 to $650,000 range. I still don't get it! |

I change my boat oil and filter and winterize it. My very finacially successful friend keeps his FL boat in valet service. They fuel it, wash it, maintain it and have it ready for him when he calls. If I were running in the rat race every day (and thinking about it at night) down in Boston with a big compensation package, those condos and the various amenities would be attractive to me. |
