Holy whitecaps batman!

Went by Newfound this morning and it looked like the Bering Sea out there!
This wind must be affecting th big lake too...straight out of the northwest!
Newfound looked very pretty with the blue skies and whitecaps but the lake was void of boats.
More wind forecasted for Sun-Mon too

Today is calm compared to what it was like on Wednesday and Thursday (and this coming Sunday thru Tuesday). Several boats on Merrymeeting broke free.

Two days of sustained 30 mph NW winds claimed my dock over here on Sebago. The lake kept building and building. The six footers were more than enough to bash it into submission...

As expected, absolutely crazy out there right now.

I was out in a small boat early this AM. First time on our lake that I can remember waves big enough that I was riding up the backside and then sliding down the front, enough so that my speed would halve going up and double going down!

What a beautiful boat you've got—for the lake in these conditions—with the cockpit exactly in the perfect location.

Was it Thursday that the waters were incredibly flat? I saw these two stand-up boarders enjoying the sunny warmth and the calm waters:



But in the time it took to walk down to the dock—in the identical acre of space:

Came in to Smith Cove from East Bear Island at 5:30 this morning. Still strong wind and moderate waves. Too windy late yesterday to come in with guests aboard. One of the "joys" of island living! 🐻

If you look at the shadows on the boathouse you can tell the pics were taken at 2 completely different times....

Probably the footnotes under each picture and these words by APS...

The statement is quite clear - the two pictures were not taken at the same time. Details, people, details.

How long does it take to walk down the dock? 5 minutes? 10 Minutes? 1/2 hour? His statement implies the pictures were taken in fairly close time frame. Clearly the shadows are VERY different... thus the pictures were taken HOURS apart.... my guess is the first pic was taken right around noon and the second somewhere around 4:00ish... But hey its all in the details right??!

I believe the post was dramatizing how fast the conditions changed. A response was posted that the pictures were not taken at the same time and the original poster was wrong to have stated such. I simply pointed out that the original post did indeed state that there was a time interval between pictures. End of point.

I have no inclination to determine the declination of inclination of the sun via shadows. I give you the latitude to make your estimates and your speculates.

This is crazy! (but funny) since It's been brought up, Cloud cover could explain the difference in shadows, BUT, is the lounge chair on the dock tilted at more of an angle OR is the difference due to the photo being taken from a different aspect by the perp, CLAIMING he moved DOWN to the dock???? There for creating the Illusion of the back being raised a few notches. Or, is the 2nd picture taken AFTER someone used the chair? I don't know. You decide.

Aps has a history of misleading pictures and twisted posts to push his agenda. My inclination is this is another example.

The post had everything to do with the high performance boat breaking laws in front of his house, because in his opinion the fact that it is there in the first place is breaking laws that should exist.

Too bad. If doubters had made that determination, the result would have been 43 minutes and 55 seconds—only "off" by 3 hours. The two SUPs had yet to return into view.

"The Lake is for Everybody". Diminishing winds bring out canoes, kayaks, inflatables, rowing sculls—and today—SUPs.

This is the same NHMP provocation by the same provocateur—annually. Where does the enthusiastic support come from? Not from those on Winter Harbor who witness such regular transgressions. My video, which appeared here last season showed dangerous, uncontrollable "chine-walking"—typical of such boats at top speed.
