I keep my boat there and was out as recently as last Saturday and there was not a "No Wake" marker. Although it would be nice for one JUST near the docks as at times your boat can get really knocked around there and this includes people that dock there flying in and reducing to headway speed mere feet before the dock.

If they are within feet of the dock and not at headway speed they are in violation of the "safe passage" or 150' RSA. Is there a dock attendant?

Don't give anyone any ideas about putting a NWZ there, there is plenty of room behind the island and the marina over there.

If people are within 150 feet and not at headway speed that is a call to Marine Patrol to Monitor,

a NWZ will just generate more traffic on the boating lanes on the southern side of the islands

Yes I agree, I know the law but as we all know there are many who do not follow the rules of the water. The dock is managed by Irwin but they are not policeman they are dock hands taking boat in and out of the water for those who dry dock

Its really not necessary to travel on that side to pass through the area as there is plenty of room on the north side. Remember not only is the dock there but the mooring field also. You would have to have the MP on speed dial or a patrol sitting there to resolve the issue.

Having been in that area for 10 years I witness a lot of "Thru traffic" so to speak use that route as a direct from Lakeport to the channel while others bend the islands who are staying in the bay or the vicinity. I also fish the back side of those islands. plenty of room, but as said there are those that travel too close to the mooring fields while underway, when they should be 150 feet away from the mooring field markers.

be that as it may 300 feet or 150 feet away the wake is still traveling that way

I have been renting a slip in SDBC for 10 years and I agree with you and can tell you most of the offenders are not passers by or fisherman but my neighbors also using the dock. Seems they need to be protected from themselves.
