Interesting. I had some ideas, but the more I thought about it, the less likely it seemed. What's the history of the land where they were found? Logging, Farming? Type of farm ?

Mark Island...no farming here...my guess was some kind of logging/ tree work tools.

I thought earlier, not much logging on the islands except to harvest after the hurricane of '38. Now it dawns on me. I suggest these were used to tie logs together to make a log raft and transport the harvest behind a tow boat.

I would guess it's a logging tool as well, but I would speculate that they might have originally been railroad spikes re-crafted with a little "yankee ingenuity" into these skidding spikes to drag or tow the logs. Without question hand made, note the different number of links on each one. Very cool discovery. |
