The online websites may turn up a cancellation. The agencies you would call often use these sites, vrbo and airbnb. When my daughter wants to go someplace, she just checks daily and turns up a cancellation/new posting. Call an agency today, "We're booed" call tomorrow, something opened up, but which agency? Good luck.
