Got real good all weather tires. Highly rated on highway and in snow and rain.
Like the tires. Then decided to replace the 13 year old spare tire. With same brand/model tire. Bought one tire. Found out that these tires are directional. Correct. Didn't do my homework. So now I have a spare tire that only can go on one side. So I was told at tire place in Laconia. If I get a flat - make sure that it is on the drivers side only. Neat ! |

I will be needing new tires in the Spring. What brand and model tires did you get?
Thanks. |

They should be good enough to get you home or to the tire store, or, you could carry two spares!

You're going to love the all-weather tires year-round. I have WRg4 on German cars and WeatherReady on domestic cars and trucks.

Every snow tire I’ve bought in the last 20 years is directional.
Probably most All Weather ones are too. Lots of performance tires are too. For many years it was a bad idea to reverse direction of a tire once it’s broken in. I got in a habit rotating only front to back between directional snows and not wanting to reverse the the summer tires. Now I can’t even do that because they are staggered. |

Be wary of rising costs. Those tires are especially susceptible to inflation.

Looking in the mirror it would seem that my covid spare tire is no longer temporary.
But speaking of spares... If you have ever wondered if it is worth it to check the air pressure in your buried spare tire, do so and you will be happy you did! |

But I do carry a compressor in each car and have since 12V ones became available. Way more useful than a spare. I also carry a plug kit, also more useful than a spare. |

My wife's car has run flat tires.
The stiffer sidewalls make for a harsh ride. Our first set only lasted 23,000 miles and the second, a different brand, went 27,000. We do rotate them. My brother in law has the same car. He replaced the run flat tires with conventional ones and bought a spare tire kit. His car rides more smoothly than ours. |

Thanks for remembering. I don't know yet. I've been thinking of another cross-country adventure this coming spring. It was a fun, but long drive. I've done it four times.

Back in the day, I worked at a Lechmere Auto Service location. We sold a ton of tires. The sales guy would ask nearly every customer if they wanted winter or summer air in their tires depending on the time of year…..
You wouldn’t believe how many people actually thought he was serious… Sometimes we would write winter air on the invoice. N/C of course. BT

Actually, I think my trip spawned a much more interesting response by TRFOUR, complete with some great historic photographs and narrative.

At Walmart the Goodyear Viva-3 has been discontinued and replaced with Goodyear Reliant.
http://www.tiremeetsroad.com/2021/08...-are-so-cheap/ ... Dec 11, 2021 Is the Reliant any good even though it is so cheap ..... and when will the Plymouth Walmart bring back the free cup of k-cup coffee in their tire waiting room that got cancelled by the Corona virus pandemic? You know the Made in America Goodyear Viva-3, Ohio-I think, was much less expensive than the Made in Mexico, Goodyear Reliant. So, what's happening here ...... like, why and how did this happen ..... the Viva-3 was a dynamite tire for my Scion xB.

If you always carry a bicycle floor pump in your car you will be even happier. This has saved me many times, including one day at the Waterville Valley ski area when I came back from skiing to a flat tire, and several other times in remote places.

I always carry a pressurized can with goo to fix leaks. Inflation is easy. In the last several decades, I've seen many more battery failures than need for a spare tire. Jump box and cables are always handy.
