I agree with Steve. Unfortunately the last time he signed in was Sept 2021. I miss his fishing posts, whether through the ice or while trolling with his nicely outfitted pontoon, his knowledge of all things salmon, but most of all, the beautiful sunset pictures from his spot of heaven on the westerly side of Welch's. Dan explained the origin of ishoot308 when a similar thread ran a few years ago. Yes, he had many useful posts.

Digging into the forum name cemetery for deceased names, APS and Top Water are two former forum heavies who took a powder from dis here forum and left the building to go somewhere else, or something.
Top Water was totally pissed about some unknown item, and deleted his 600 black & white, historic lakes region photos. .... ![]() APS disappeared for a reason, unknown ...... possibly he simply got eroded away by a Malibu wake boat! ......

Here's the challenge..... Somehow, maybe people can make an outreach to these folks and ask them to reconsider a return ASAP. "Life it too short but it is the longest thing you will ever do". Make the most of it and COME BACK...please !!!!! There can be some real good from this thread on top of the fun of knowing what the background was for name creation!! |

I've talked to most of these people behind the scenes, and the common tone is that the forum has much more drama than in the past and often loses its way. I have pointed this out in some posts of my own where people have made an issue out of "offensive" language, "repetitive" posts, etc. What's worse is that when these things happen, the supporters often remain silent—we saw it with Joey a few weeks ago and I've got PMs from people who have been "with me" but don't post publicly because they don't want to get involved in the drama. The result for some people, then, is to walk away when the frustration outweighs the value. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk |

I'll mention my avatar now that its legibility is challenged by the small screens of Smartphones: It's a chipmunk returning to a large glass jar containing hundreds of stainless steel nuts. (The label "Nuts" is facing the viewer). Our local chipmunk is a frequent visitor to our porch for sunflower treats. The chippy climbed up, as expected, and gave us a perfect bummed-out look!

It's hard to say. The avatar picture is about eight years old, which is the lifespan of a domesticated (and caged) chipmunk. In the "wilds" of Wolfeboro, I'd guess their lifespans are half of that.
I take an inventory upon my first arrival at the lake by whistling into the woods. At least one "trained" chipmunk will respond by sprinting around woodpiles, fallen branches, racing along walkways and bounding up the stairs. All of that energy expended for a few sunflower seeds! ![]() Quote:
And yes, I remember your participation in long-forgotten Wolfeboro forums. Your discussions were primarily directed in discussing local foodspots--mine about things and the "Science of People". As to "tone" it may be due to arriving at Lake Winnipesaukee--from Sebago Lake's "Doctor's Island"--during WWII. Our Winter Harbor cottage was built in 1956. You could've called it "Paradise" or "Heaven". From as recently as 1975, a slalom water-ski course was set up inside Johnson's Cove. The effects of ever-growing turbulence on water quality and erosion is easily displayed in photos taken of our lakefront. Or, at one time, our concrete mooring was visible from the surface--but no longer. ![]() I'm unable to say, "Get off my lawn".
