This is how I found my wife’s boat when I returned to Welch Island today…what a bummer that was!!

Not sure yet…the good thing is the motor was never submerged and it started right up. Pulling it out tomorrow to check the hull….hoping for the best.

Sorry to see this. Lived on The Broads for decades! We spent a lot of money on a chain mooring to prevent mishaps in bad weather but always find a weak link!

Decades ago we were able to leave our boat at Glendale during inclement weather but docks usage changed. Even Gilford shore residents have to abide by the 3 hours rule which is not fair.

Sorry to see that, Dan. Even though it started right up, I'd be concerned about water in the gas--not sure where the tank is located, but I've had gas contaminated by water working its way into the tank through the vent. May not a problem until you get near the bottom of the tank.

We pulled it today and there is definitely water in the gas as it skipped and sputtered all the way in. The gas cap was submerged so I expected that. Gel coat coat damage along the port side chine and well as scratches on port side hull. It could have been a lot worse but thankfully I have great neighbors who reacted immediately and helped to minimize damage. Unfortunately looks like its going to be an insurance claim….

It’s now in the hands of Winnisquam Marine who will get everything taken care of over the winter.

Wow! Hopefully it will be ok. The wind was crazy up on the hill, we moved in on Thursday. It looked like everything was taking a pummeling.

We have one boat out on Bear presently, but it looks like it was fine from what I can see on the cameras. Will have to watch this next storm as Ian heads up the coast.

Unfortunately my cameras went down when the island lost power. Everything was fine as I was monitoring it. The sinking occurred sometime during the power outage… My weather station on the island said winds hit 37 mph just before power went out…

It’s been a very bad week for the family and I needed this like a hole in the head!…

Sounds like the motor is intact, that is a major plus. Hopefully if there is an issue with the hull you can get it fixed over the winter.

The motor didn't get submerged which is good but the prop (aluminum) did get destroyed and there is skeag damage from bouncing off the bottom.

The boat has been dropped off at WOW marine for winter storage and full repair and Progressive insurance has been notified and they have responded and reacted quickly thus far... Hopefully this will be all behind me come spring...

I'm sure it'll be good as new come spring.

I'll know by Friday if my boat survived Ian, or if I'll be in the market for a new boat. There are upsides either way

The upside of having a lake front home and boats is, there is a lot of fun that can be had. The downside, is there are times when the weather is bad, and you have to hope for the best.

We will see what Ian brings us, and then I will go up on Saturday, and see what I see.......
