Deck Project

Any recommendations for someone to work on a deck project in the Paugus Bay area? Home is located in a HOA on the shoreline , so any recommendations for someone with experience working right at the shoreline is much appreciated.

You likely can save yourself a lot of time (and money) if you have all the red tape paperwork done prior to hiring someone to do this project.

If your project is within 200 feet of the water then you will first need to have state approval for your project prior to applying to your city/town for a building permit. Your town's Building Inspector will supply you with all the correct forms needed to do this.

The project will be far easier for any Contractor if you have the regulatory process dealt with (this alone will save you money).

Unless he has an existing deck, then he doesn't need a permit unless he is expanding it.

You might want to check the HOA bylaws, as well as local ordinance and statutory regs. The HOA board might have a list of contractors that have done work there prior, and can suggest recommendations.
