Question ..... new overnight ice formed is not a serious problem.

You know there is never enough ice formed overnight to keep a motorboat trapped, somewhere. Most any motorboat can easily motor through one or two inches of ice at a slow speed like 5-mph and probably even up on plane at 25-mph. The vee hull zips through the ice like a knife and easily breaks it through when there is just one inch ice, no problem.

Cutting through the ice like that is a piece of cake.
