Default Ice In?

Moultonboro Bay seems pretty well iced in. Much of it happened Sunday night and Monday, but the new snow on top reveals very few wet spots. Several folks were skating on the ice yesterday, before the snow fell. With cold temps for a few more days, we may have the best ice in a decade for the new year. How's the ice on the rest of the lake?

Meredith Bay is only frozen at the edges.

Default Ice update

I hitched a ride with a friend yesterday on a small pontoon/barge out to Sleepers island. Beautiful sunny day. I stayed on the island most of the day puttering around and fixing my circulator. Walked the island trail also. He did some work on Rattlesnake and said there was quite a bit of ice between Rattlesnake and Sleepers.

The ice was about an inch thick, along the south facing shore of Sleepers for 50 yards out or so. We very slowly broke through the ice to get to my island dock. Otherwise open water as far as I could see from Diamond down past Small's Cove, Treasure Island to Alton Bay.

Temps for the coming week not conducive to making/sustaining any ice.

Being able to get out to an otherwise inaccessible camp this time of year, sure does mentally shorten up the winter.
