No sales tax when transferring to Florida if it has been registered in New Hampshire for a certain period of time. I think it is 6 months or a year.

I last did a car move in 2018.

At the time of the move I had owned the car in NH for seven months.

I checked with the local FL "Tag Office" beforehand and there was to be zero sales tax when I registered the NH car in FL.

When I brought the car down and registered it in FL I paid zero sales tax.

That was in 2018.

I have a Florida resident friend who bought a boat in Maine 4 years ago, registered it in New Hampshire, and the following year registered it in Florida without paying the Florida sales tax. I believe he said it had to be NH registered for 6 months.

Maybe because NH has no sales tax?
