Located at the Lakes Region Community College, 379 Belmont Rd, Laconia ..... (Route 106 going up the hill on the right, driving to Belmont from Laconia)
Thursday, November 6, 1-6pm A mobile food pantry set up by N.H. available to SNAP recipients only "by showing their EBT cards or presenting a notice from DHHS that confirms their participation." ".... a remaining balance on a SNAP card from last month can be used to buy food." "State officials approved $2 million for the effort." Information from http://www.wmur.com/article/new-hamp...tries/69235045 with other locations and dates. SNAP is an acronym for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, a federal program administered at the state level. And, here's a cold prepared food buying tip ...... http://www.dhhs.nh.gov/programs-serv...wn-information... ..... that maybe you are unaware. Did you know that "Cold, pre-packaged foods: Items like cold deli sandwiches, pre-made salads, or sliced meats that are sold in a refrigerated, take-home package designed for the micro-wave oven are often eligible, as they are considered intended for consumption at home." So, this means the cold individual servings sold at Market Basket like a salad, or a turkey meatloaf dinner with mashed potato and peas and carrots that have a red label 1/2-price reduction due to being a day old are eligible and the price typically gets reduced 50% from $7.00 down to $3.50. So, God bless America ..... .... and thank-you Market Basket for those cold, prepared food 50%-off, red label, day old price reductions that are eligible for SNAP here in New Hampshire.

Frozen pizza qualifies for SNAP because it needs to be baked in an oven, plus is pretty easy to do that with frozen pizza, just don't forget to remove the wrapper and the cardboard liner from under the pizza ...... ha-ha-ha .....
.Am I the only person in the country who baked a frozen pizza with the cardboard liner included so the cardboard became bonded by heat with the pizza, underneath? ...... ![]() From Montpelier, Vermont's state capital ..... http://www.wcax.com/2025/11/04/despi...nefits-friday/ ...... N.H.'s neighbor, across the Connecticut River.

What's to eat?
So, someone posted three photos .... www.instagram.com/p/DQuvZsikob3/?img_index=3 ..... of what they got to eat on Thursday, Nov 6 from the mobile food pantry at Lakes Region Community College in Laconia, NH. Looking at the cans and packaged food I think I see a yellow & red River Rice white rice but do not really recognize any of the other brands? What the heck ...... when you is hungry ...... you have a can opener, open the cans and make the best with what you have to eat ..... brands you recognize or not ..... that's life living on SNAP here in Laconia. It don't look like Market Basket items from the Plymouth NH, Market Basket except for the yellow & red, River Rice is a popular brand. And, nothing frozen for the microwave, or a frozen pizza ..... ain't no Marie Callender 3-dollar frozen microwave spaghetti & meatballs or no Gorton's $6.49 fish fillets w/ tartar sauce for breakfast with Walmart French roast coffee and orange juice and pumpernickel toast. Writing this is making me hungry at 4am.

So, apparently N.H. Gov Ayotte and the responsible NH state agency have figured out a way to get the money from somewhere, flowing into the SNAP cards, good-to-go at your local New Hampshire food store.
If you have a working refrigerator and microwave, here's a Canadian American low-priced, nutritious, good-for-you New Hampshire breakfast delight. One McCain's quick cook Hash Brown potato patty, from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada along with Two or three Banquet brand original fully cooked sausage links, ConAgra Chicago USA Microwave on high on a paper plate for 90-seconds, add ketchup, and eat. Sold at you local New Hampshire food store that is now, once again accepting federal Snap cards. For about eight dollars and fifty cents, you have a freezer bag, one lb, 8-oz, with about 15 hash browns, and another freezer bag, 2-lbs, with about 50 pork & turkey sausage links. You really need to look into this! For about $8.50 you get 15 microwave, breakfast hash brown & sausage meals with 15-potato hash browns and 50 pork/turkey sausage that are never-fail, good-to-eat, easy & fast to make, real deal, hot and yummy breakfast food. Just add what you like, like a cup of hot coffee, orange juice, an orange or a grapefruit, toast & butter and you are good-to-go with Canadian/Canadien potatoes and American pork/turkey sausage ........ so good! How Healthy Are Potatoes? ....... http://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/10/we...s-recipes.html ...... and McCain's packaged potato items, easy to microwave and priced right, from New Brunswick, Canada are so so so good to eat ....... ....... just add a little ketchup.

How it works in NH is each municipality is responsible for welfare.
So anything that doesn't get funding from the federal or State level, has to come from county or local property taxes. |

SNAP is now refroze and NH has to see what it can do.
Interesting. New Budget at the beginning of July, and revenue under projection for four months straight. |

Here's a Nov 6 newspaper report by Paula Tracy ...... http://www.indepthnh.org/2025/11/06/...od-at-nhti-lac... .... on the NH Food Bank from Thursday, Nov 6, at Lakes Region Community College in Laconia, NH.
One 27 year old woman from Belmont, NH was there because she was injured in a 2024 motorcycle crash ... http://www.gofundme.com/f/support-co...ad-to-recovery .... that has kept her out of work for a long time. Down the bottom there's a list of N.H. locations and dates for NH mobile food pantry now that the SNAP, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, federal money has been supposedly frozen. .... ![]() There's no frozen hash brown potatoes or frozen breakfast sausages, microwave ready, available there at the N.H. mobile food pantry. It is mostly canned vegetables and plastic packaged food like rice and oatmeal. Does the food bank have any ketchup?

Shaheen and Hassan have voted to reopen.
So depending on the final count, this may be just a pause. If the final count isn't enough. Then we would need to wait until Tuesday when the stay from Supreme Court Justice Jackson is over to see what happens. |

Here's an inter-active map .... www.datawrapper.dwcdn.net/bW4nn/2/ ...that shows what percentage of each New Hampshire town receives Snap cards.
For some unknown reason this link does not work at this time? The article can be read at http://www.indepthnh.org/2025/11/01/...poverty-in-nh/ Snap is an acronym for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, a federal program administered at the state level. Here's some numbers from towns around Lake Winnipesaukee: Center Harbor .......................... 3.5% Moultonborough ....................... 2.2% Tuftonboro ............................... 2.2% Wolfeboro ................................ 3.1% Alton ........................................3.1% Gilford ..................................... 3.2% Laconia .................................. 12.6% Meredith ................................... 5.3% Well, well, well ....... now that we know that, let me just say that rich or poor, you are definitely better off RICH! ...... ![]() "Experts Say SNAP's Food Budget Doesn't Match How People Actually Eat" ...... http://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/di...-shutdown.html
