Default Danger!

Someone should go tow that thing to shore before the night. It will be a hazard once it gets dark. I would but I'm not around.

I'm around, but a big ice floe has locked against my shore since Wednesday.

Maybe by this afternoon the ice can be moved away, and I can secure the raft. (Which is still in view at dawn today). Hopefully, it won't be out of sight by then.

Thanks! - I don't mean to order fellow forum members around. It just would be awful if someone hit it at night. Looks like a gorgeous day up there! Wish I was out in the boat!

Default floating objects

If anyone is going more than headway speed at night while there is so much floating debris, they are asking for trouble.
I picked up several tree limbs and one 6 by 6 that was 3 feet long. Any boat that hit that at speed would have had major hole.

Default owners?

After telling someone about it I was told that one of the owners on Black Cat has a raft like that, the Lindsays, whom I believe are full time MA residents but I haven't seen any cars in their driveway for weeks. The night before the first posting on this thread I did see the raft floating near the SE side of Black Cat Island, and thought someone had set it out there for the summer. Conditions were calm and it didn't seem to be moving, but in the morning it was gone.

Your orders have been obeyed , and the raft secured.

It is an Aqua-Float model. No address on it.

There is a large quantity of white-pine cones and needles on it that are unlikely to have landed on it while it was loose. There is no other leaf debris, so it must have been stored near some mature white pine trees. Hope this helps to find the owner.

This is the model:

I think it arrived from the Libby Museum area—maybe floating away from someone's new "perch beach" with the rising waters from snowmelt and rain.
