Just wait for January 2010 when federally mandated "B2" heating oil becomes the standard. That's 20% ethanol and 2013 it then changes to "B3" which is 30% ethanol. You can't begin to believe how well you old trusty oil burner going to run on that stuff. Just a few years ago #2 oil contained 144,000 BTU/gal. today its 138,000, come January it be degraded to 125,000 and on B3 down to 115,000. If you,re thinking of buying a new oil boiler/burner you'd better be looking a new low "NOX" burners they're the only ones that can handle the B2 efficiently.
What a nightmare this is going to be... |
