What happened to Rumba?
I called Rumba in Wolfeboro to make a reservation on Saturday, but was bummed to hear that the line had been disconnected. It was just about my favorite place in the entire Lakes Region. Anybody have any info on what happened to the place?

No Rumba?
Oh no. Are you sure you dialed the right number? I really love that restaurant. The food is wonderful. I know the owners are very active in the Wolfeboro community ... working with Great Water and other groups... hopefully they are just moving to bigger quarters.

I'm postive I dialed the right number. I like the place so much I had the number in my cell phone speed dial! I then tried directory assistance to make sure that they didn't change the number. Doesn't look good...

SP:There's some chatter about it on that other forum (p. 4-6 of the thread).
"The current owners of the Rumba building bought it with real estate and equipment, they opened Dale's Cafe. When they leased the building to the Rojas' it included the restaurant equipment and they have now decided to sell. It is under agreement and the new owners of the building will be honoring the lease and want Rumba's to stay." |

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Rumba is closed for good. The building is under new ownership, which did not precipitate the closing. The space is currently being rennovated by the Narramore's who own Wolfetrap and will be opening their third restaurant in Wolfeboro. It is to be named the "Wolfe's Den" and is slated to be a martini bar and "American bistro".

abc123 - thanks for the info. If the new place is half as good as Rumba, then it will be great. Maybe Rumba's owner - Fabio, will surface somewhere else.

Rumba is now WolfeDen
The folks that run Wolfecatch/Wolfetrap and Sandtrap are opening up WolfeDen 2/1/05. Creative Fare...we're excited to have a new place to eat! Should be awesome from the menu we saw.
