Snowshoeing
Snow shoes on a hard packed "snow shoe" trail are, well...unnecessary. And loud. And most of the people we meet along the way are carrying their snow shoes. I don't blame them.
I would love to find some more remote snow shoe areas, and I'm sure the problem I stated above is due to my own lack of knowledge about where to go for a wilder feel, where the snow shoes are actually an asset to the hike. Page pond maybe? Any challenging areas in the White Mts. recommended? What about Mount Shaw? One solution is to get out early after a fresh snowfall, which is awesome, but also random. Any brilliant ideas? |

'shoeing out to Rattlesnake
We'll be heading up next weekend for our annual trek to the cabin. Heading out from Minge Cove, what can we expect this year? How much snow is on the lake over there? Bare ice? pressure ridges? We're heading over to the Broads side of the island.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks - R&M |

Belknap Range
You can get a trail map here:
http://belknaprange.org/ Or here: http://belknaprangetrails.org/ One nice hike is the trail off Bickford Rd in Gilford to Round Pond. In Alton the Morse prpperty is a great snowshoe hike: https://www.forestsociety.org/proper...se-sr-preserve http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/...ad.php?t=13165 |
