When I think of salmon, I think of what I see at the seafood counter at the market. Big, red, meaty fillets. Does Winnipesaukee salmon look like what we see for sale in retail? Thanks!

I got seven more today in the Fly Fishing Only Section, (current tally for April is now 31 salmon), and gave away all the rest of my bead head leeches, heh. A guy and his boy nailed a beauty::

RG: I don't eat salmon so I don't know what the store-bought salmon vs Winni fish are like, but I have heard that the winni salmon aren't very tasty. store fish are usually farm raised Atlantics brought up in saltwater pens. Winni fish are freshwater.

Winni salmon meat is more orange in color and not as good as sea run salmon. Worms in the meat are not uncommon though you won't notice them once you cook them. I prefer trout and have stopped keeping salmon due to the issue reported with the salmon fishery last year and this year. They worked (Fish and Game) with the local guides to put out a "pledge" in the hopes that sportsmen and women will take more care with fish caught, return big fish and only keep hook wounded fish.
