Default Something seems hinky...

Does anyone know if the Alton PD has looked into what happened to the owner of this boat? Seems odd to leave it there as ice forms around it.

Default Conspiracy theory alert

Maybe it was placed there by the same person who drove the Jimmy into the lake? Maybe "lake crime" is overtaking Alton, and overwhelming the Alton PD? Just trying to start some rumors, here....explaining the unexplained. But is is very, very odd to see a boat being frozen in at the docks.

BTW, SLI -- welcome to the Forum. I see you just joined.

There are still several boats in the lake. Today I drove by the Tuftonboro town docks and there were still 4 or 5 in there. I have seen some in marinas, and a few on lifts in Paugus bay. Some people just tempt fate I guess.......

Default Last Hurrah

My wife and I made a day trip today to finish getting the lake house ready for winter. Nothing like boating in a snow squall in a 17 ft Whaler to get you thinking about winter!!

I don't no why, but we didn't see anyone else on the lake....

I was out as well, but not until 1pm when the snow was gone. Flat calm and not a soul around.

Made a run yesterday, a little choppy going out but not bad, easy coming back. Had the "first burn" in the woodstove, a few finishing touches and we'll be all set for some winter fun on the island.

My neighbor was out as well, hoping for one more trip but the wind will have to be calm. This time of year you have to be pretty selective in my opinion

Exclamation mystery solved

The boat that wound up being iced-in at the Alton Town docks was being repossessed and was left there to be picked-up by the repo folks. Somehow, communications got fouled up and whoever was hired to pick up the boat never got it. After sitting there for some days, a local marina was contacted and they fetched the boat out through the ice. Supposedly the web cam showed the path they broke through the ice.

That's one way of solving a winter storage problem. Hope nothing froze.

Default Took the boat out today.

There is still a few boats tied up at the Glendale docks. Probably island owners.

Default Last Run

Well sadly made my last run to the Island yesterday, had to cut through some ice to get out of minge cove. The Rattlesnake landing ramp is iced over from the snow that fell the other day.

Lit a fire in the new wood stove, did a few things, had some lunch and enjoyed the last visit until ice-in. Now looking forward to some winter overnights. One other boat was out, my neighbor putting up his danger thin ice sign.

Bring on the cold !!
